Devorah Naturals Announces Expansion of Gluten Free Skin Care Line
PITTSBURGH, PA, October 1, 2009 – Devorah Naturals, an artisan organic and natural skin care manufacturer, is excited to announce the expansion of their gluten free skin care line for people with gluten intolerance.
Responding to increased requests for gluten free skin care products, Devorah Naturals has expanded their gluten free line of soaps to include lotions, balms and other skin care items. Research studies show that maintaining a gluten free diet can help those with Celiac Disease, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, Eczema, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Autism Spectrum Disorders and a few other auto immune diseases (i.e. Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease). Since we do not eat skin care products, why is there a concern about what we put on our skin?
“At this point in time, there are no definitive studies that prove or disprove the absorption of gluten molecules through the skin”, Deborah Seewald, president of Devorah Naturals said. “However, there are those who have Celiac Disease or other auto immune disorders who have reported having an adverse response to skin care products that contain gluten or who just do not want to take any chances. Of particular concern are items that come into contact with one’s nose, mouth or other mucous membranes as well as hand lotions and creams. The problem is that one might prepare food after applying lotion, or lick ones fingers which would be an ingestion of the gluten. Although it seems a minute amount of gluten to worry about, gluten sensitivity is sometimes heightened the longer one maintains a gluten free diet.”
In order to insure there are no trace amounts of gluten in their products, Devorah Naturals maintains separate utensils and containers for the manufacture of all gluten free products.
